The following is a great idea and a great way to describe a dolphins life in captivity.
Sign the Lauren W., The Care2 Petition and read that description here: A great many of us are experiencing the turmoil of self isolation in the midst of this global pandemic. While we know it is the right thing to do to remain socially distant until the threat of spreading COVID-19 to others has passed, it can be extremely difficult to find pockets of joy and hope. But imagine if you were forced to self isolate, against your will, for no other reason than the entertainment of others?
Inubosaki Marine Park Aquarium in Choshi, Japan, was Honey's cruel home. She ended up there, swimming circles in her small pool all alone, after she was stolen from her home and family in 2005 during a Taiji hunt. These hunts round up terrified dolphins for slaughter or to be sold into a life of misery. When the marine park was abandoned by its owner in 2018, Honey was abandoned along with it. Honey lived for two more years in isolation before succumbing to death in 2020. Honey would never know there were people who wanted to see her free again. Instead, she died without ever seeing another dolphin. Please help us end Taiji hunts for good so that dolphins can live and thrive in the wild, where they belong.
Elite Star Miguel Bernardeau Urges Fans to Boycott SeaWorld
He stars in Netflix's hit #Elite, but Miguel Bernardeau is in his element when he's surfing in the open ocean. Dolphins and orcas trapped in captivity are deprived of the opportunity to swim freely in the ocean. He teamed up with PETA Latino to urge you NEVER to go to SeaWorld! https://www.peta.org/features/netflix...
We’re inviting you to join us on May 9 for the 8th Annual Empty the Tanks Worldwide Event!
This year, our global event will be a little different due to concerns surrounding COVID-19. While all public events have been cancelled, we can effectively spend the day advocating on behalf of captive cetaceans.
Our theme this year is Selfies for Cetaceans. It’s all about building awareness, and sparking positive dialogue about the unethical practice of keeping dolphins captive. You can go simple, or you go BIG. Get out your posters and costumes, and get creative! You can take pictures or make a short video in order to participate.
CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD your favorite #SelfiesForCetaceans event materials.
Take your pictures using the downloaded posters and/or masks. If you don’t have a printer, download the posters to your phone or tablet and hold the device up in the picture.
Upload your pictures to your social media pages using #SelfiesForCetaceans & dolphin.fyi/SelfiesForCetaceans.
To make things even more fun, the three most creative submissions will receive a prize pack from Empty the Tanks. Be sure you are following both Empty the Tanks and Dolphin Project on social media where we will be posting more information, including downloadable resources to help make your event even more fun!
