River was found on the side of the road, presumed dead. It wasn’t until Animal Control stopped to pick him up, that they found him still breathing - still alive.
His shoulder was completely exposed and was being eaten by maggots. He was in excruciating pain and only weighed 11 pounds! BFP quickly transported him from the shelter to an Emergency Vet where he was treated for two whole weeks.
It was a complete miracle that he pulled though. He is the toughest and most stubborn dog we have ever met. We think his stubbornness is what helped him fight for his life.
We suspect that River has never had a chance at freedom. We think he has been caged for his whole life. But, River fought for his life, as he knew what was waiting for him on the other side.
Because of YOU, River now lives by the beach with his new loving family. He has the freedom to sunbathe, freedom to play, and freedom to be loved.
But sadly, River isn’t out of the woods yet. He had to have an exploratory surgery due to gastrointestinal issues last week. He is recovering slowly from this recent surgery and needs your help more than ever.
The circle of life (on the streets) ended when Hope For Paws arrived at the rescue location.
Today we want to ask you all to join us with a small donation so we can save more lives: https://www.HopeForPaws.org
Loreta Frankonyte, JoAnn Wiltz and Jodi Slater joined me on this rescue. I decided to mess with Loreta a little bit in the middle of the rescue - I hope you will enjoy it.
Our friends from Cats At The Studios continue feeding the feral mom and the rest of the cats in the colony, and they continue trying to get the mom so we can spay her (it is challenging because food is abundant and she has no reason to walk into a trap - she had seen all the other colony members get caught). I promise to post an update here once we get her.
If you would like to adopt Zazu, Rafiki, King, Tiifu or Sarafina, please contact: https://catsatthestudios.com I just came back from the movies where I just saw the Lion King, and it was just amazing!
It is a remake of the original movie and it was the most beautifully made animated movie I have ever seen in my life!
So much work, effort, and love were put into it and it's definitely a MUST SEE!
