Sir Paul McCartney Wants Texas A&M to Shut its Dog Lab Down
Beatles icon Sir Paul McCartney was on tour in Texas when he learned that dogs are suffering in cruel muscular dystrophy experiments on Texas A&M’s campus. Dogs are deliberately bred to develop canine muscular dystrophy that leaves them struggling to walk, swallow, and even breathe. These experiments have been going on for nearly 40 years and there is still no cure or treatment to reverse symptoms in humans in sight. Shut the dog lab down!
A Message from Kingston: Hi Friend, I’m Kingston and I am so happy to be in gorgeous North Carolina. I just moved here and I gotta tell you – a lucky dog like me can really get used to all these trees ‘n’ open space.
Because I haven’t always lived in a place this beautiful.
Before, I lived in a waking nightmare.
I was sold to an animal testing lab by the shelter where I was held captive. At the lab, they used me to study broken bones – my broken bones – after I was hit over and over again by a car on purpose for their research.
I have only ever known this misery until you helped free me from this nightmare. I didn’t think I would get out of it alive. But I did.
And Friend, it’s because of you, I now have -

PETA Persuades Dozens of Food Companies to Stop Testing on Animals
PETA scientists are modernizing food-industry testing worldwide by successfully persuading companies to use modern science and end the use of cruel and deadly animal tests. See the many companies that have decided to spare animals useless experiments not required by law. See more at Official PETA TV
Monkey Genetically Engineered to Suffer
Experimenters edit the genes of animals, like this monkey known only as "A6," to induce physiological or psychological deficits. A6 was produced through gene editing and cloning so that he would be prone to fear, anxiety, and depression. Here, he attempts to escape from the experimenter, almost trying to meld into the bars of the cage imprisoning him. See more at Official PETA TV
Massachusetts Medical Training Programs End Animal Use
And, following a decade-long Physicians Committee campaign, Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., announced that it ended live animal use in its Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) program, as well as in its emergency medicine residency program. One ATLS Program Still Uses Animals
At the Biomedical Primate Research Centre in the Netherlands, approximately 1,500 monkeys are used for breeding or experimentation at any one time. They're often shaved, crudely tattooed, placed in restraint cages, and infected with debilitating diseases.
Sometimes, after being sedated, these intelligent animals remain conscious during terrifying procedures, such as those in which tuberculosis bacteria are injected directly into their eyelids. Unable to escape, they're helpless to defend themselves.
Experiments on monkeys must stop now. The results of such studies aren't even relevant to humans.
Please urge the Dutch government to end the use of primates in experiments and to make the transition to humane science:
We recently received a tip from a PCRM physician member that Mayo Clinic in Rochester is killing pigs to train emergency medicine residents.
Since it is a private institution, Mayo Clinic is not required by law to make public its use of animals—but we know that students are instructed to practice invasive medical procedures on live pigs, who are then killed after the training session. Not only is this cruel and unethical, but it is bad science—pigs and humans are anatomically different.
If everyone who cares about animals takes action today, we can stop the cruelty at Mayo Clinic before another pig dies. We’ve done in before—in fact, you and other PCRM members have helped us close live animal labs at 23 other emergency medicine programs.
We’ve already filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and launched a public awareness campaign. In addition, we’ve sent more than 14,000 member petitions their way.
But to get Mayo Clinic to change its ways, we need your help.
